     -  Les Proehl is our liaison from LDMA. He reviewed the list of outings that the LDMA has extended to the GPAA members for 2019.

Info for Orlando GPAA: Digs that the Orlando GPAA can dig at for 2019 At Loud Mine LDMA by Cleveland GA there are 8 digs that all GPAA members ma_y_attend. Dates are as follows:
April 11->14 GOLDSTOMPIN' DIRT DIG Camp Dig
May 4 ROAD KILL DIRT DIG #1 Camp Dig
June 4->9 DIGGERS DIRT PARTY This is a National Dig
July 19->21 GPAA MEMBERS WEEKEND OPEN HOUSE
July 27 ROAD KILL DIRT DIG #2 Camp Dig
Sept 5->8 SMELLY BELLY GOLD BASH Camp Dig
Sept 27->29 FEED THE DRAGGIN Camp Dig
Oct 24->27 DOWN & DIRTY GOLD FEST Camp Dig

The Orlando Chapter has 3 digs this year. The digs are on:
April 25->27 At AL Gold Camp Orlando Dig
June 13->15 At Lucky Strike Orlando Dig
Oct 24->26 At Lucky Strike Orlando Dig

The only dig that will interfere with the Chapter dig is the Oct 24 dig at Loud Mine, so let's do the Chapter dig at Lucky Strike. Now that you are going to be at Lucky Strike dig, you can come a few weeks early and do the National Dig at:
Oct 10->14 At Oconee SC National Dig
Oct 16->20 At Vein Mt NC National Dig

The reason for all the info is that YOU can do all the digs that you want. There 13 digs listed only one is at the same time as our own Chapter Dig. If you want to be at the Loud Mine Camp Digs you need to act now to assure that you can get a spot on any or all of the digs and your camp site.

If you want to be on a camp dig call 706-219-3075 the care takers are Joe & Dana. Dana has been my contact there. Also, she is the one to get you camp site reservation.

If you want to be at the National Digs call CA at 800-551-9707 or 951-699-4749 to sign up for the digs.

Then ask for the tell# for Oconee SC and Vein Mt. so you can make your camp site reservations.

Steve asked me to get more info on the June 4->9 dig that we (the Orlando GPAA Chapter) are invited to. HERE GOES; when you, sign up for the Loud Mine National Dig you will be asked if you want to buy a 14 meal, meal ticket. This is a good deal. The cost is $65.00 per person, more to follow on that.

You are to arrive on June 4*, any normal day time, there will be a meet and greet get together the evening of the 4'^ and FOOD. The dig starts on the 5* O dark 30 as we say in The Navy. Oh, by the way we get fed 3 meals a day while we are on the dig. The last morning More food. Now the camp told me that if we can get 10 GPAA members (not LDMA members) to sign up for the dig they will give the club a BAG of enriched Pay Dirt, not bad I have heard that it is a good bag that the Club can do what they want with it.

But wait it gets better if we can get 11 (eleven) GPAA members to sign up for this dig they will drop $50.00 off of our sign-up fee of $150.00 for the dig for each GPAA member at the dig! And we need to bring our colors Woody bring our Orlando GPAA banner as it will be on display at the dig.

•   READING/ACCEPTANCE OF PRIOR MONTH’S MINUTES.

    -  A motion was made by Woody and seconded by Lou V. to accept last month’s minutes.  Vote was unanimous.

•   OLD BUSINESS.

     -  o Lou V. reported on the March Outing – Fossil Hunt at Peace River, that was held on March 30, 2019, at the Peace River in Wauchula FL.  The turnout may have been small but the day int a fun day of treasure hunting.  Debbie Conejo has found a new hobby called Magnet Fishing.  After sharing some of her experiences with us, it sounded like it could be fun to try it ourselves.  All you need is a 200-300lb pull strength magnet and about 50ft of parachute line or 3/8” nylon rope.  The bridge location yielded only a fishing lure and a couple of hooks, so we decided to move up river to a Heritage Peace River Landing in Homeland. Debbie pulled up a child’s fishing pole (still works) and Candyce V.  Pulled up a 4” ceramic knife.  Not to mention, about 20 fish hooks and an old motor winding to be scrapped out for the copper.  We sat in the shade to eat lunch, then fished for another 2-3 hours before calling it a day.

     -  o April Outing is scheduled for April 25-27.  This outing is a gold dig at Corn House Creek (GPAA claim).  Most attendees will stay at Alabama Gold Camp.  Since this is the group’s first trip to Corn House Creek, we will decide whether to dig at Corn House Creek (CHCGC) or Alabama Gold Camp (AGC).  CHCGC is dig your own dirt and fill in your holes.  AGC has an entry fee and pay for dirt, cash or check only.  Breakfast and Dinner cost of food will be totaled and divided among participants.  Saturday night is Steak night, bring and cook your own steak (not included in cost).  As of 4/13/19, there will be 5 participants.  Steve will need an accurate head count for food, so if you are thinking about going please confirm A.S.A.P.

     -  o Loud Mine GPAA Open House will be held July 19-21st – New scheduled club outing.  Friday, 7/19 is your day, Saturday 7/20 is a common dig – gold split equally.  Sunday 7/21 split.  Camping Fee is $8.00 per night, tent fee is $3.00 per night.  For this outing, GPAA members have priority over LDMA members.

    -  A motion was made by Lou V. and seconded by Woody to accept last month’s minutes.  The vote was unanimous.

•   OLD BUSINESS.

     -   Corn House Creek (CHC) / Alabama Gold Camp (AGC) Trip was thoroughly enjoyed and considered a true prospecting trip for this newer GPAA claim.  We found Corn House Creek was located 7 miles from Alabama Gold Camp and totally primitive.  There is another way to get to CHC that is more user friendly.  The alternate route is all paved highway but is 5-6 miles longer from Alabama Gold Camp.  Both routes were totally accessible with a 2WD vehicle.  At the GPAA claim you can high bank and dredge.  What we saw and found at CHC looked quite promising.

     -   T-Shirt Sale Update – There must be an order of at 12 or more t-shirts to place an order.  Several members are interested, and Steve is looking into this matter.

     -   Chapter Points – We finally received our Chapter points refund for the unshipped GPAA items we ordered at Christmas.  This issue is now resolved.

     -   Lucky Strike Outing – Food will be supplied, cost shared equally by all the attendees eating with the group.  Meals are always great and enjoyed by all.  This outing is scheduled for June 13th – 15th.  Just as a reminder, it was brought to a vote that if 10 or more members attend, that the club will kick in $100 towards the food bill.  This motion was made by Bob and seconded by Janice.  Please try to attend.

     -   JPoint System – We now have 47,600 GPAA points.  When you join the GPAA, you have the option to have our chapter receive the points.  Chapter points are earned by attending meetings as well as outings.  1 point per club event.  This is now audited, and your added annual points will be tallied for the Christmas party drawings.  To be eligible one must be a current and active member.

     -   The Loud Mine outing in July is still pending. If interested, we need more people to sign up to attend.  The dates for this event are July 19th – 21st.

     -   Remember our members and their families in your prayers. It is nice to have support in troubled times.

     -   A motion was brought up by Doug S to have another outing at CHC / AGC this year.  Members were in agreement and the date was originally set for Sept 19-21.  Members voted by email to change the dates to Sept 5-7 due to a conflict with North Alabama GPAA already having their outing on the previous dates.
