January 2021 Newsletter.

•   WELCOME MEMBERS AND GUESTS.

     -  Meeting was called to order at 10:00 am. by President Steve M.
     -  The Sergeant of Arms, Woody led the Pledge of Allegiance.
     -  Reading and acceptance of the prior month’s minutes.  Motion was made to accept the minutes as written, by Steve K. Mike B. 2nd the motion.  All members agreed.

•   OLD BUSINESS.

     -  Recap of the Christmas Party, Steve M. thanked everyone for coming and for the food that was brought.
     -  Steve M. asked about reserving the Pavilion for next year, all members agreed to go ahead and do so.  Mike B. agreed to check on it.

•   NEW BUSINESS.

     -  The next meeting is on February 9th and will be a potluck meeting.
     -  The next outing is Metal Detecting on February 20th at Sun Splash Park in Daytona.
     -  Tax Exempt Status – as a non-profit.  It was discussed and since we do not deal with the public, it was decided to continue as our current status.  Steve K. made a motion to accept and Lou V. 2nd it.
     -  Wooden Nickel Program
          -  Awarded to anyone who brings in a new member to the GPAA.  There will be a drawing at the end of the year.
          -  The officers decide what the prize will be for the drawing at the end of the year.
          -  Business Cards were given out and are still available to be passed out to prospective new members.  Your name is to be written on the back with your phone number so the prospective member can bring it to the meeting and turn them in.  The member who signed them up will then receive a Wooden Nickle.

     -  Explain Voting and member status as per GPAA Bylaws:.
          -  Supporting members – these are members of the club that are not members of the GPAA or LDAA – they can vote for everything except for the officer elections.  They can also make motions.
          -  Club members that are members of the GPAA or LDAA can participate in voting in the officer elections.

•   RAFFLES & DRAWINGS

     -  50/50 Drawing was won by: David S.
     -  Special Christmas gold nugget raffle was won by: Steve K.

March 2021 Newsletter.

•   WELCOME MEMBERS AND GUESTS.

     -  Meeting was called to order at 10:00 am by President Steve M.
     -  The Master of Arms, Woody led the Pledge of Allegiance.
     -  Reading and acceptance of the prior month’s minutes was done by Cheryl B.  Motion was made to accept the minutes by Mike B., Woody 2nd the motion.  All members agreed.

•   TREASURER REPORT.

     -  Cindy V. read the treasurers report for the past month.  Mike B. made the motion to accept and Woody 2nd it.  The members all agreed to accept the report.

•   OLD BUSINESS.

     -  Recruiting Awards was presented by Les P.  They are as follows;

     -  1. The Chapter will have business cards for all members at our monthly meetings.  The card will have data on it for the Orlando Chapter.  Write your name and telephone number on the back of the card.
     -  2. Recruit a prospective member to come to the next meeting.  When at the meeting the prospective new member gives the business card, with their name and phone number on it so the Secretary can record the data.
     -  3. At the end of the current year, at the Christmas Party, we would tally up the total number of coins each member received and have turned back into the chapter, for the year.  The member with the largest number of Gold coins turned back into the club will receive a vial of Gold.  In event of a tie, they each will receive a vial of Gold.
     -  4. The vial of Gold that will be awarded is of the same value you could win at every meeting.
     -  5. It is up to the Chapter to get the Non-Member to join the GPAA.  There is no limit to the number of non-members that any member can bring to a meeting, with the intent of recruitment of a new member.

     -  New Banner – Ann W., the proof will be ready on Monday, March 15th.

•   NEW BUSINESS.

     -  The next meeting is on April 10th at Warren Park, 3406 Warren Park Road, Belle Isle, FL 32812.  This is a Potluck meeting so please come out and join us.
     -  This month’s outing will be at Lucky Strike Campground, 251 Lucky Strike Drive, Marion, NC 28752.  Phone# 828-738-4893 * Website: luckystrikegoldandgem.com.  The outing is from April 21st to April 25th.

     -  New Banner – Ann W., presented the 3 options to the group, it was agreed that the Black and Gold Banner was the one to go with.  Everyone accepted the vote for the purchase of two banners.  Ann W. will bring them to the outing at Lucky Strike.

•   NEW BUSINESS.

•   OLD BUSINESS.

     -  The Gold Prospecting outing in Alabama – Cornhouse Creek from 07/14/21 to 07/18/21 has been cancelled. Lou made the motion to accept and Woody 2nd it, all members present agreed.
     -  The metal detecting outing to Anna Maria Island was hot, but still a beautiful day. A few coins and bottlecaps were found.

•   NEW BUSINESS.

     -  The next meeting is on Auf 14, 2021 at Warren Park, 3406 Warren Park Road, Belle Isle, FL 32812.  This meeting is a Potluck.
     -  The October Gold Prospecting at Alabama Gold Camp / Cornhouse Creek has been pushed back to 10/20 to 10/24. Lou V. made a motion to accept and Mike B. 2nd the motion, all members present agreed.
     -  Steve M. will be buying larger gold this year for the monthly drawings.

•   OLD BUSINESS.

     -  Lou & Cindy’s granddaughter was born on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.
     -  Les & Anne’s great granddaughter was born on June 17, 2021.
     -  Long time member, Jan B. passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021.  A motion was made to have the club make a $100.00 donation to the Family by Lou V., Les 2nd the motion.  All members agreed.

•   NEW BUSINESS.

     -  The next meeting is on September 11th, 2021 at Warren Park, 3406 Warren Park Road, Belle Isle, FL 32812.  This meeting is a Potluck.
     -  The September outing will be prospecting for gold at Lucky Strike Campground from September 15th to the 18th.

     -  Alabama Gold Camp – Steve K. told us about the trip.  Campsites were adequate, facilities not so much.  They dredged Corn Creek and Alabama Site, even though there wasn’t much gold, they had a good time.

     -  The next meeting is on December 11th at Warren Park, 3406 Warren Park Road, Belle Isle, FL 32812.  This will be our Christmas Party at the pavilion and the party starts at 11 am.
     -  Christmas party – gifts are to be close to $20.00 value, bring a gift to receive a gift.  Also bring your wooden nickels if you have any.

     -  The next meeting is on January 12 at Warren Park, 3406 Warren Park Road, Belle Isle, FL 32812.  This will be our Christmas Party at the pavilion and the party starts at 11 am.
     -  There was a motion to give Lou and Cindy money for their travels to pick up the supplies for the Christmas Party.  Steve K. made the motion and Dan S. 2nd it.  The members present all agreed to accept.
     -  Membership cards will be verified at the meeting so please bring them with you if you haven’t already done so.
     -  Warren M. made a presentation about metal detecting in Boca Rotan 7 to 8 years ago. He showed us a piece of wood that had copper in it, which he thought was part of a ship from a ship wreck.  He said there was a fleet in the 1700’s from Europe that was found not from Sebastian.
     -  There isn't an outing planned for January.
     -  Elections of Chapter Officers took place at the December 11th Meeting.
     -  Steve M. will remain as President.  Cindy V. will remain as Treasurer.  Cheryl B. will remain as secretary.  Bob G. was elected to act as Vice President.
