Downstream Crew, Upstream Crew Chapter Video
Memorial Day Weekend.
Wow, what a difference a year makes. The size of our outing went from six members last year to nineteen members this year. To date this was our chapter's largest outing. While I don't believe the chapter found the most physical AU during a two day outing, there was plenty of gold around with all the fun going on. Mother Nature cooperated for the duration, with perfect weather. Even thought a tropical storm was churning up the coast a bit near Jacksonville dumping a lot of rain, Buchanan, GA. was perfect.
Beech Creek.
Here are some photographs from around the campsite over the weekend. We had
so many members that we split the groups into two. That also made for a lot
of extra photographs. Make sure to visit the
Downstream Crew, and the Upstream Crew pages.
Well it wouldn't be an adventure if the club didn't start out with a little mishap. Mike packed everything he needed to get started on his trailer, and getting it off proved to be a bit much for one of his ramps, as the metal plate at the top bent as it took on the load. Lucky for him and all of us that was the worst of it.

Each day, early in the evening, members classify the concentrates coming from the equipment used during the common operation. This year the club had 2 4" inch dredges, a 3" highbanker/dredge, a 2.5" highbanker/dredge, and a 2" dredge running. Members had the opportunity to go and try out each of the pieces of gear if they wanted to, and several of the newer members took advantage of this and learned a lot about the different types of gear.
The concentrates were screened to 1/8, and 1/20th, looking to pull out any small nuggets, and larger flakes. no nuggets this trip, but we did pull up several nice sized flakes. While we're never sure which piece of gear got the most gold, we can give a bit of bragging rights to the upstream crew, as they pulled out the largest, and most flakes. All of the gold except the largest piece went into the common, along with a bit of gold that our chapters Treasurer, Frank donated.
